A fluxon is a discretized field line. Analytically, fluxons are considered to be quasi-1-D manifolds that represent a finite (rather than infinitesimal) amount of magnetic flux. Numerically, fluxons are piecewise linear curves that may be represented as an ordered list of vertices in 3-space. Computationally, fluxons are represented within FLUX as a FLUXON data structure and an associated linked list of VERTEX data structures.
